My Top 6 Haircare Tips for YOU

You guys want my advice on haircare?! Sure, I’d be happy to share!:-) Hair care education lights a fire in me that I never knew I had prior to starting my journey! I get REAL excited when I start talkin about this stuff. Lol! So Let’s get into it…
Here are my TOP 10 pieces of advice that I give to those who are interested in learning how to properly care for and maintain their hair! Natural or Relaxed!!!
Tip #1 —-Love Yourself! Inside & Out:-) It’s pointless to try to enhance natural beauty when you aren’t cultivating the beauty of your heart. There’s so much beauty inside of you…don’t just let it lie dormant. And I must say, there was a tie between tip #1 and tip #2. Though I will say, tip #2 definitely helps with this process of growing to love yourself inside and out. As a matter of fact, its imperative that you know at least somethin about tip#2 because its is a deal breaker:-/ Ok, maybe I shoulda made it #1……LOL!….drum roll please
Tip #2 —“Pray and Ask God for Help on Your Journey”
I did this the very first day that I decided to start wearing my natural afro textured hair! I believe that praying always yields fruit (results) and therefore I went directly to my Father, the creator of all, and asked Him for guidance. I asked Him to show me where to go and what to do to get the information I needed. I prayed that He would teach me how to handle my hair with love, and most importantly, how to love myself the way He loves me and see myself thru His eyes:-) Then I prayed that moisture and pH balance would be at the levels needed for me to prevent split ends and maintain “healthy” strong and long hair. Wait……….I felt myself really starting to create a prayer there guys. Lol!!! I digress. You get the point. I’ll save the haircare prayer for later. Maybe the next blog. o_0
Tip #3— Moisturize!!! A lot.
Water is your BEST FRIEND!! I really can’t believe that someone ever started the “Never let water touch ur hair unless you’re washing it,” trend. Who’s idea was that??! I mean, have they EVER read a book about taking care of natural hair?? …..anyways, again….I digress. Spray bottles with water and other water mixes are a huge part of your hairs nutrition. Spritz your hair daily for moisturizing and be sure to SEAL in your moisture with oils, butters, or a leave in conditioner that’s acidic enough to bring your hairs pH balance back to normal and close those cuticles!
Tip #4 —“H.A.L.T” Don’t do your hair when you’re Hungry, Angry, Lazy, or Tired!!
I’ve heard a few ppl use this acronym to say that we shouldn’t make major decisions while experiencing any of these emotions, but I would have to include,”……or do ur hair.” inserts crickets………………………………………………………………yea, just don’t do it. You’ll more than likely rip through your tresses and potentially break off your hair. You’d be surprised how impatient we get when we’re struggling in any one of these emotions. Handle your hair as little as possible when you’re not feeling well. #H.A.L.T
Tip #5—- Jealously is An Enemy, Don’t Compare Your Hair to anothers!!
This will quickly set you up for discouragement and discontent if you’re not careful. Which sometimes causes transitioners and new naturals to give up too soon! :-( It’s easy to watch others in their journey and think, “why won’t my hair do that?” Or “I really want to achieve this type of hairstyle but my hair texture just never looks right like that” etc. etc. etc. Find what works for YOU and rock it. Rock it with confidence and do YOUR BEST! Do the best that you can do with your hair and BE EXCITED about your achievements along the way.
And finally Tip #6 —-“Have Fun Accessorizing!”
Yaaay! \o/ Accessories are awesome! They’re so fun and they’re girlie. Lol. Girlie girls usually LOVE this tip because I’m able to present to them so many different ways to be cute. Lol;-) Earrings, hats, hair pins, flowers, head bands, scarves, necklaces, etc. you’d be surprised how you can dress up your current look and hairstyle!
These are my TOP 6 HairCare Tips…everything else I could have listed is important also (so I will post those later….) but I really felt that these were the MOST important things to remember along the way. They all make a BIG difference in reaching your haircare goals in the long run.
Be encouraged peeps! XOXO
Jaz
